Care giver perspective
- What mindful living assistance for Elders means to me. I am a care giver. I work "one on one" helping elder clients.
- Helping to me means: being a good non judgmental listener, being a advocate, pro choice.
- Helping means having a sense of humor, challenging the status quo , taking risks.
- Helping means, being there to lend a steady arm, preparing and eating a scrumptious meal, keeping the home environment clean and trip free.
- Helping means, grocery shopping, window shopping, thrift store shopping.
- It means, doing the laundry, changing the bedding.
- It means walking dogs, feeding cats and visits to the vet or groomer.
- It means finding clues to acquire information and get to know a person.
- It means trips to the woods, if only to look out the car window or sit on a bench enjoying the breeze.
- It means thinking of and trying out interactive activities to discover common bonds and fun things that bring on joy and smiles.
- It means tea breaks, preferably with home bakes cookies.
- It means watering the flowers, planting a garden, pulling weeds.
- It means feeding the birds, and the excitement of a humming bird or cedar waxwing visit.
- It means doing what needs to be done to turn embarrassing moments into opportunities of grace and closeness.
- It means going the extra bit to develop trust and because I can't help it.
How I operate, fees etc.
I am looking for clients on a full time basis. That means regular hours every week.
I charge $20.00-$25.00 per hour a day. I have a 3-4 hour time block minimum depending on distance and hourly wage.
The minimum of hours/ days depends on my schedule and client needs.
I prefer to work days but make exceptions depending on client needs.
